LegalService Schema for Law Firms
A law firm's office uses the LegalService type, a kind of LocalBusiness. The block below is filled in for an example firm; change the details and copy yours.
Example details are filled in. Replace them with yours; the code updates as you type.
More details (optional)
Copy the cells, header row included, and paste here. Columns: name, street, city, state, zip, phone, url, hours. Tabs or commas both work.
Paste it into the page's <head>, then check it in Google's Rich Results Test.
LegalService or Attorney?
schema.org has both, and marks Attorney as deprecated: LegalService is the more inclusive type. Use LegalService for the firm's office. A firm with offices in several cities gets one block per office, each on that office's page.
Practice areas, added by hand
This example firm is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and closed on weekends. To list its practice areas, add knowsAbout to the block:
{
"knowsAbout": [
"Estate planning",
"Real estate law",
"Family law"
]
}
Keep it to areas the firm really practices, written as on its own pages.
Questions
Should each attorney have their own markup?
Attorneys are people, so a lawyer's profile page can describe them with the Person type. The office block stays LegalService.
Should a law firm add priceRange?
Only if it helps; many firms leave it out. Empty fields are left out of the generated code.
Where does the block go on a law firm's site?
On the page for that office: the home page of a one-office firm, or each office's own page.
